The universe has seen fit to give New England some spectacular autumn weather??a warm blazing sun and a belief that we held the cold at bay. Walden Pond was teeming with dialects, languages, walkers, swimmers ??and those who came to see where Thoreau lived when these woods offered solitude.

On a cold winter day you can still catch a glimpse of the quiet.

In my afternoon walk I would fain forget all my morning occupations and my obligations to society.
