The most famous in the world!

Fully restored and now working pulling specially chartered trains this famous locomotive has joined the fleet of other restored steam locomotives that are now to be seen hauling specials on the main lines in the UK. No prizes for those who can guess what the loco is!

This photo was taken on the 13th of June 2017 and shows the train approaching Chester having come from London.

Thanks, the Flying Scotsman attracts a lot of attention where-ever it goes. It only returned to service recently after a massive restoration. It was originally built in 1923 and made the record of the first steam locomotive to achieve 100mph in 1934.

There is often confusion between this locomotive and the famous train that used to run non stop between Edinburgh and London and carried the same name.

Nice shot. It reminds me of the Hogwarts train. :)

If you visit Scotland in the summer you can ride a steam train from Fort William to Mallaig which crosses the Glen Finnan viaduct which featured in the Harry Potter films. Many scenes in the films were also shot around Glencoe.

Um...David.  Those of us who do not live in Britain have no idea what engine this!  My father probably would as he emigrated to Canada for a great career in Canadian Pacific Railway but not me.
