Eisteddfod 2007

In 2007 Mold hosted the National Eisteddfod of Wales. Our camera club gained the full support of the Eisteddfod organisers to make a photographic record of the event from the building of "The Maes" to the return of the site to green fields. This has to be the biggest project ever undertaken by the club and involved nearly every member working to a rota to cover the event.

Out of this a 45 minute AV presentation was made and an exhibition of 40 prints which are now housed in the Flintshire County Archive.

The main pavilion a huge tent under construction, it was the venue for all the big events, concerts and presentations.

It was rapidly transformed in to a vast auditorium and stage fully rigged for live television broadcasts here a folk group are preparing for a rehearsal before the opening concert.

The procession of the Gorsedd of bards before the presentation of the poetry medal.

These are from my own pictures taken over the course of a month. The work of over twenty photographers contributed to the AV and exhibition.

Thanks Abigail, I wish my current work was as good! We had the great privilege of open access to everything. It was a huge project. A friend and I spent many many hours making the AV and we had to make the print exhibition out of a choice of 10,000 images.
