the dancer / part one

A few nights ago, there was a four - act stage play at the Venice Island Perfoming Arts Center in Manayunk PA, called “The Dancer,” feauturing my granddaughter. It depicted the story of a young woman who was told all her life by friends, family, even suitors, that she would never be anything in life. In this play, she had dreams of being a dancer, and in her mind - that's where she would retreat when times got tough.
Told in spoken word form, the narrator, Tiffany Dean (my sister-in-law, and writer of the play) told this dramatic story while different dancers portraying her character from a little girl to a woman, performed center stage. Although there was recorded music chosen especially for the night, certain segments featured a solo violinist.
This was my granddaughters first performance in front of an audience. I am amazed and proud at the same time. I'm sure it won't be her last.

Wow, Ken, the last image needs to be matted and framed for her! Love the lighting on her and the monochrome edit!
