For 'Manchester' read 'Salford'

by Pauline Wilson Brooks May. 03, 2011 1250 views

Been in the archives again - but that's partly because I got a new toy - a new scanner - and I wanted to see what it could do with ancient 35mm (well early 90s) shots - Manchester/Salford are two cities separated by the Manchester Ship Canal, and this was once a thriving dock area - with names like Toronto wharf and Winnipeg wharf - but came the 80s and - according to local - Dallas sprang up by the waterfront - hotels, restaurants, ‘trendy’ houses - and finally the Lowry Centre - and all of this right beside the Manchester United Ground - who could want for anything more?? - well - schools and a doctors office that was not surrounded by razor wire would have been nice……
