I just read this:
" After hanging on the underside of a leaf for almost a week, the pupal case of the ladybug splits down the middle. Slowly, a very pale yellow ladybug pushes through the crack, and step out onto the leaf. The new ladybug looks wet and is very fragile, because her body shell has not hardened yet. This takes several hours to happen. "
