I belong to a small village, Lunapani in Balh valley of Mandi District, Himachal Pradesh India. I took these photographs on my most recent visit to my village. I took my wife, for her this is the first visit to the place, to many of the places where i used to wander and play during my childhood.
There is a very small but thick jungle, called Doida,(https://www.google.ae/maps/place/Lunapani,+Himachal+Pradesh+175021,+Indiaemail@example.com,76.9372939,1065m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x39051c3bb9d4e91b:0xe815145a95b20d53!8m2!3d31.6171716!4d76.9311761?hl=en) just like a rain forest, in the middle of a very different environment to support a rain forest.
There is river which flows just in front of this jungle, called Suketi River. Over the period of time this river has changed its course. Further there is lots of construction around it and people do a lot of illegal digging, which in return is harming this still very scenic place.
The tiny pond in the middle of the jungle is my most favorite. It is one of the most peaceful places i have ever visited. During rainy season it swell in size.
This little rainforest also used to be very thick comparative to now, thinned mostly due to human invasion. people have cut many trees to make way for crop fields. The area around this river is very fertile and people grow a variety of vegetables around here.
There are small temporary bridges to cross the river. These are removed during the rainy season due to flooding in the river.
Well I visited this place after long time. We thoroughly enjoyed the time here and will keep on going back there. Hopefully people will try to preserve this one of a kind jungle of the area.
