We (me and my wife) took a walk along Wey river during our visit to Guildford this year. It is a scenic place to visit with greenery all around. The best part was the amount of fresh air you get here...which... kind of purify your body and soul. This place is absolutely peaceful and very clean.

We started our walk from Guildford towards Shalford. It was around 45 min walk but we took our time and completed it in 3 hrs. It was such an enjoyable place that we stopped at many places. Being a photography enthusiast, It was an amazing place to practice my skills.

The views that this place provided us with ranged from very old typical English pubs, beautiful English countryside, old navigation systems, ancient techniques used in boating, pretty old boats, beautiful birds, flowers of many colors, old bridges, heritage houses and beautifully decorated places to sit and relax.

It was an extraordinary experience for us to see people out on their private boats in the river and some of them sitting and relaxing along the bank reading or having conversations, which I think is very rare to see in this age. There were people of different age groups...running walking, cycling.... some of them even swimming..seemed illegal though..

There were a wide variety of birds of different species we encountered. I love taking pictures of birds and took this opportunity to click some of the best bird photographs I have ever captured. I also noticed that the sides of the river were well secured to prevent any soil erosion. It was pleasant to notice people involved in water sports activities to keep themselves fit and healthy. The respect shown to the cyclists were immense and filled our hearts with joy.

On the way, we saw a historic bunker of only of its kind built during world war to keep the army ammunition safe. Although not in use now, it was well preserved. We didn't see anybody fishing in this river, may be due to restrictions or there are not many, just assuming.

Most of the houses along the the way had there own boat anchored outside. We presumed that this was an old way to commute for the people living in the community. It was also evident from the numerous boat stations falling in our way. The stations times back to a few centuries back and were still intact. However we were not able to figure out the technology behind that...☺️

The bridges to cross the river were old fashioned ....the ones we see only in the movies... especially Bollywood movie songs. I took some snaps of them as well. Some young men were diving from one of the bridge into the water, so we realized that the water was not as shallow as we were thinking it is.

The flow of water also seemed slow. It was a plain place so was justified.

The beauty of this place had a remarkable impact on our minds as we wish to visit again to be lost in the tranquility of the place.
