African Elephant

This was a good day and time to be at the zoo. It was HOT and I was able to catch an elephant covering himself with mud to avoid burning in the sun.

Here he was fanning his ears. The large amount of blood that flows through he ears is cool by the air and helps to cool his body.

He creates a turbulence with his trunk and legs.

Notice the muddy water shooting from his trunk. Enlarge to get a better view.

My… what big ears you have!

My… what big everything you have!

These look great to me, Ray. You caught him doing his regular activities - and the clarity of the skin in the last shot is amazing! Neat set!

I noticed that some of these didn't transfer with the best results. I don't know why, but I don't have time now to remedy. I'm off to work! Maybe a fix up in the morning.
