Here are a few shots of Kerr Lake. I said “by dam” because there is a dam on this lake which controls the flow of water to Lake Gaston. Both serve as reservoirs for fresh water used to supply many areas of North Carolina and Virginia. In one picture you can see evidence of just how high the water level has been and how low it is now.

Notice the exposed tree roots.

Nice sandy beaches are in many areas around the lake. This is a campsite.

Enlarge this photo and take a look at the tree to the right of the guy in the dorky hat.(Sorry Kevin) Those lines are water level marks and show the drop in the water level. With this 100F weather, it may be a great while before we see an increase.

Interesting how this fallen tree stayed rooted and changed it's growth pattern.

Many stumps like this are around the lake. The root systems were unable to support the tall trees so they were cut down before falling.
Ooohhh, Ray, the seventh one is really beautiful - great composition and perfect colors! Looks like a fun day (except for Kevin's dorky hat!)
