Just about 20 kilometers from Vishakhapatnam and 128 meters above the sea level overlooking Bay of Bengal, Thotlakonda Buddhist Complex was home to several Buddhist monks and followers of Buddhism some 2000 years ago.

Thotlakonda was re-discovered by Indian Navy in late 1980s. Series of excavations at the site established the existence of Hinayana Buddhist complex which flourished 2000 years ago.

Visiting Thotlakonda was a divine experience and I urge everyone who visits Vizag to pay tribute to this ancient monastery.

Thank you ~
