The station near my place, Mita Line. Because of the high rate of suicides using the railroad tracks where people jump to the coming train, the government started to install gates on the platforms that only open and close when the train stops to pick-up passengers.

And people do not jump over the gates if they want to commit suicide?

There would be passengers stopping them if they do. It will take a lot of effort before going over the gates. There was one incident just the other day in one of the stations with no gates yet that someone jumped to the oncoming train witnessed by a friend.
