Portrait of the dog as a young artist

I was extremely rude about the Welsh recently, as if they didn't deserve as much help as possible, and my mind wandered (not a very long journey) to Dylan Thomas, hence the title, a parody of a parody.

Some people here are doing Project 365. I don't quite see the point, but then I'm getting older and less inclined to find out. Maybe it's some sort of photographic therapy. Anyway, my photographic penance is to use muggins as a subject once in a while and I HATE having my photo taken.

Such a soul baring would normally never make it as far as Photoblog. Hideous images of my fizzog are consigned to an electronic wailing wall where they slumber until my heirs discover my password or the RAID wheezes its last byte.

However, the “posterize” adjustment layer in Photoshop CS4 is not only easily accessible and fun; it hides a multitude of sins - all of them mine.

Do you think that my using the Posterize adjustment layer so extensively makes me a poster boy for Photoshop?

No, I didn't think so either.

A face that's shipped a thousand lunches

You a braver man than I. Re: the 365, It's purely a way to work on my eye and how to use the camera. I've been away from doing anything creative for so long, it's been fun. I do have to say, that at times it can become a drag though. Perhaps one day, I too will have skillz.

Hey, don't diss us lesser mortals for attempting a Project 365. Not everyone is blessed with your eye or your skills!

Thomas was perfectly capable of being pretty rude about the Welsh too. And Zakia would love the fact that the posterization of yourself is in line with Albers comment that, art is an experience and not an object. Here we are lucky to know something about the dog, so we experience the art. Strangers might only see an object unless of course they have both perception and imagination. :)

Those first two photographs ??so pensive, deep in thought, modeled, and in step with new film technology. I rather like the last photo??classic, philosophical and technically adept. Forsooth too much reliance on Photoshop.
