Fuck Paris-La Défense

by Stefan Fletcher April. 30, 2009 5133 views

Got my camera back yesterday, as can be seen from the different IQ compared to the iPhone POS.

I bloody hate Paris. Every time I go, something big, unpleasant and deeply irritating happens. Anyway, these were the ones I could escape to take.

A couple sitting on the parvis of the Arche de la Défense. Highly stylised and heavily Photoshopped. For an alternative treatment of this image and the one below, see here [photoblog.com]. I think the images in the other post are better

The pose and dichotomy were irresistible, but I got the composition wrong.

This all looks so very Parisian, doesn't it. Pity it's not actually in Paris, just outside.

I've been trying to figure out what you don't like about the composition of 3. The balence between the sizes of the two things your contrasting? the angle?

I like the 2nd picture very much! The composition with large space and not so many colours is very appealing to me. I don't think it looks cold or grim at all - more peaceful and free in my eyes.
The other photos are nice as well but the buildings in the first photo and the stairs in the third is sloping a little.

#2 looks grim and cold. was that your intention? I like the contrast and colors of the last of the cold damp, bright blue sky and warm doorway.

Well, you must be happy to get the camera back. Love the colors and lighting in the last one - also the dramatic clouds in #1 really make the photo...the thumb is interesting.

A frenchman (I hope I am right though) who hates Paris--interesting revelation--nevertheless I like the heavily photoshopped No#2.

I love Paris. Those steps are about the first ones our Cliff ever walked down. We were standing at the top looking down and he just toddled off. Somewhere I've got a great bit of video of Lin chasing after him in a panic. Good see you're no longer sans-Daguerrotype.

That sky in number 1 is incredible! Fantastic set I also really like number 5.

Love the scale presented in 2 and 3 with the people against the steps and walls. 5 is a very peaceful scene although it looks odd without any people.

Are you going to share your unpleasantness? :)
