Half-way between a still life and a fruit salad

by Stefan Fletcher June. 20, 2009 4906 views

Despite my extensive political connections (see the previous post [photoblog.com]), I couldn’t get into the official opening of the New Acropolis Museum today. For more information about it, I refer you to this [photoblog.com] and the wonderful studies by Noptek [photoblog.com] at the British Museum.

The Third-World domestics have been given their annual day off, the ingrates. I’ve decided to dock it from their pay because the third footman forgot to empty the ashtrays in the Ferrari and I’ve run out of champagne-flavoured cocaine.

Anyway, I decided to slum it with the proles and see what it’s like at something called a “market”. Not sure exactly what people do there, but I distributed some financial largesse to an old crone and she gave me fruit, no doubt as a sign of the extreme honour I did her.

The title of this post is a wink at an album by Fat Boy Slim called Half Way Between the Gutter and the Stars – just to show that I’m like everybody else. I am definitely in touch with the Common Man.

Not sure why the monos look more fun than the others; you be the judge.

Can you work out what the strange black and ribbed object is? Answer below.

This is the original RAW capture of the first one I messed with

Boosted colours instead of desaturating them

Wow - fantastic post - love the incredible detail. Although the B&Ws are interesting, the color really appeals to me.

Nice. You're right the monos are more fun. I think it's because they are one step further away from fruit salad than the multi-coloured ones. It makes them more abstract and hence more fun. But then, what do I know?

I really like the b/w's (so says the girl who's always doing color...) Actually I like the apple in both, but I think for the others, the composition is stronger/more interesting.

AWESOME shots. The B&W's especially. And if it's not a kiwi, then nope not a clue about # 2

The inside of a kiwi is just so photogenic for some reason. I like it.
