A pin-up aid for feline differentiating engines

by Stefan Fletcher March. 03, 2010 5994 views

We share the limbic part of our brains with other creatures such as crocodiles, hippopotami and sheep. The limbic system basically helps us all divide the universe into six things:

* Things we want to fight
* Things we should run away from
* Things we want to feed
* Things we want to eat
* Things we want to have sex with
* And I've forgotten the last one, but who cares because the first five cover just about every aspect of my life anyway.

In fact, so useful is the limbic system as a differentiating engine, it's a wonder we ever bothered with all that new-fangled cortex and neo-cortex stuff.

I was considering my daughter's cats. Cats are extremely limbic. Specifically, I believe some of them transcend limbic differentiation completely in wanting to fight with, flee from, feed, eat and hump a single thing all at the same time.

So I thought I'd put up some limbic pin-ups here. A sort of differentiating centre-fold for moggies. I suggest you set / glue / nail your cat in front of this post and see what happens.

As I can't remember the sixth factor, feel free to tell me what it is and offer your suggestions as to which of the above make your Tiddles tiddle.

Have to go now. My daughter's cats are eyeing me up and, from where I'm sitting, the prospect looks distinctly unappetizing.

Wasn't the last one a reaction, and it was "to freeze and play dead" if a prey catches us?

I'm afraid Gracie doesn't react to photos - unless they're taken in smellyvision of course! However, she will kill for a splodge of yoghurt.... Gorgeous feline photos by the way! :-)

I do not want to fight with one of them.
I will run away from the lions and other big cats.
Things I want to feed? My daughter, our bunnies and myself.
Things we want to eat, too many to write here.
"Things" ??? we want to have sex with? A vibrator is a thing, so yes, I can think of a few.
What the last may be, I have no idea!

Nice shots.

Actually the 1st 5 can be clubbed into one - behaviour, add in after that emotion (which i guess u have covered in the write up) The limbic system is also helpful in the long term memory as well as takes part in olfactory process (not so sure)...
As for ur cats... God bless u!
I really like the 2nd and 6th! Why such a shallow DOF in the last?

Neat idea for a post. I'm not sure there's nothing especially limbic for me in looking at pictures of a big white cock, but thanks for making them available anyway.

Things we want to have sex with <-- I don't know about you but, People aren't things...

maybe 6# is Don't forget your camera.

May I do a commentary about the last picture? Why didn't you focused it correctly? others are good, but this one maybe needed a bit more of focus... I'm sure was just a lapse!
