Tuesday Inspiration - or how not to photograph fog

by Stefan Fletcher February. 01, 2011 3212 views

Going away again and won't have the means to post anything new this week, so I decided to try to shoot Gerd [photoblog.com]'s theme two days early.

Living in a village of 700 souls, it's impossible for me to photograph the first word of Gerd's theme and almost impossible not to shoot the second. It's highly unlikely you'll guess the theme from this post, so click here [photoblog.com] for more telling examples of this week's TI.

Oh, and I can't shoot fog.

About the TI

The “Tuesday Inspiration” began in 2009 when Helen and I started challenging each other on Tuesdays and later decided to invite other PB members. Moira (MoMac) gave us the name of the "Tuesday Inspiration". We later hit on the idea not to say what the theme was so that others could compare how different members view it. The Tuesday Inspiration is not a contest or a challenge. It is a group of people agreeing to post their interpretation of a single theme on Tuesdays. Each week, one of the contributors sets the theme. There are 60-odd members (not 60 odd members) contributing to the TI. This is the latest list Helen was kind enough to compile:

365DandFeby, AKphotospassion, Andarta, AnneMarie, Beth0110, Blackberrypic, Boneca, Caroleagle, Chossid, Cmurray, Danrav, DavidCardona, Djnana, Elizzi, Eratomymuse, GiraffeRacing, GKorts, Iamwitness, Imdanchan, Jarvo, JustGood, Karmankwarner, Kblakes, KellyBee322, Kitegypsy, Latecomer, LazyWasp, Levonthelights, Lgnelson, Lynda, Marilynx, MassObservation, Matteahmb, McMommy, MoMac, Mountainflower, MrsSavidan, Mystic1, Nellinka, Nukee, Passerine, PawKam, Pedar, Quiksilver1781, Ratcher, Revenant, Ryana, SewerRanger, Slowpete, Snowpie, Stamatisgr, SusieLah, Tennischick, TheBronzeBow, Tracyseeger, Va000119, Wasichseh and Yellodog.

We have only two “rules”: don’t include the subject in the TI title or tags and please comply with standard PB guidelines on courtesy, etc. If you would like to take part, please contact Helen Girafferacing [photoblog.com].

A more neck-friendly version can be viewed here [redbubble.com]. Alternatively, the original panorama with very little messing about done to it is below.

Great photos even if the theme was a bit impossible for you to capture.

I see the difficulty you face with this one! I'm trying to think how I'll get round it too. You've caught a nice sense of the layering in the landscape thanks to the fog.

IMHO I like the fog pano even although you declared it wrong , I wish I had even the smallest part of your ability to photograph . .
The more I'm learning on my course it is confusing me even more when I try out the tips , as they say, it's beginning to be a case of " Its all Dutch to me!!!"
