The Olive Tree and St Nicholas beach AND CATS!

No visit to Symi is complete without a breakfast at the Olive Tree - a wonderful oasis of sanity, calmness and good food! It is at the top of the nain street - the Kalistrata - a mere 300 or so steps.
Then to St Nicholas beach - a lovely spot - there and back by another taxi-boat and finally back in the harbour we begin the 146 steps back up to our little house.

hello! it's me!!

half of a club sandwich ! delicious

on the taxi-boat looking back at Pedi beach

st nicholas beach

way back now

I put this here because it is a reminder that on a tiny island like Symi everything has to come by boat - often old boats! This one used to be the River Dart - it was built in 1981 as a general cargo boat and has ended up here - rather battered! but bringing in essential supplies - in this case water bottles and beer!!!

Pedi

Back in Symi town at the harbour - a sign has been put up to stop tourists paddling and then falling over - such a shame!

just love these doors

OK - the Kalistrata mentioned re the Olive Tree is more steps but they are gradual - our 146 is mainly like this

but there is company on the way

some of it has only just been born!
