He now only flies on the weekends. My grandfather and I have been flying around the USA for years. He always calls me on Thursday, and asks me, “Are you ready for your lesson?” to which I usually reply, “Just until I find something better to do.” He would laugh and I could usually hear the sound of the plane engine in the background.
Friday night, I pull into my grandfather’s driveway. My parents’ only let me drive in a forty miles’ radius and I have to call or text them when I get to my destination. I’m here, I type, close the app, and then open it back up to add a smiley face. On the Saturdays morning we would go flying we would fly ever were as long as the fuel would take us. I solo at the age of 19 along with my younger sister. I am now 29 I am commercial pilot thanks to my grandfather.
