At the end of the afternoon, there it was the most recent of the Portuguese Navy Frigates: NRP Corte Real, a ‘Vasco da Gama’ class frigate that was received at the end 1991 and arrived at Portugal in 1992- Fisherman (and woman) weren't that interested in the ship… Waiting for the frigate, a couple of tugs. Entering Funchal bay. On the rear some sailors (men and women) enjoying the sights. On background you can still notice ‘ilhéu chão’, one of the Desert Islands. Where's Wally? Or in this case, where's the marine? It shouldn't be hard with all those ‘neoblanc’ white sailors around… :)) Entrering Funchal with tipical Madeira background: the houses built up the mountain. Hotel Porto Santa Maria in background. Like the ‘big’ fishers, small fishers also seemed a lot more interested in whatever they've caught… (maybe some old boot….) :) Preparing the docking…. …with lots of officers giving orders… The tug is pushing the frigate into the dock. Set in for the night….Next day would start early…Next post will cover the first Navy Helicopter operations on the Funchal Harbour.
