Day 39/100 Black and White... Small Bloom and Exploring Cropping Some More.

by Russell Smith May. 07, 2018 1712 views

This flower the striking dark lines caught my eye. The true color of the flower is a beautiful purplish magenta. I tweaked the tone of the color to give me a brighter look in the black and white form. When I took the picture of the flower from the previous post I was thinking about cropping. Today I took this one step further. This is another non standard crop but it is also one that I used the straight horizon tool (the level) to spin the picture so the flowers were in the orientation I wanted . I have pushed the crop to a border line too far as I have eaten 80% of the resolution but at the same time for the use I am using it for I think it is fine. I will have to live with it for a day or so more to see.
I am going to include a straight out of camera unprocessed photo so you can see how much of the image was cut out and how it was spun to get this composition.

To be honest I prefer the #3. The color makes the flowers stand out.

I prefer the colored one.  I think it has something to do with the color pink...smile

I love the color of them. Also the scene they were in the color glowed. They were in some dark shadows with a good amount of dark greens/browns around them . They kind of stood out like a neon sign .

For a fair comparison, I would like to see the colored ones with the same magnification as the mono....

I edited the post . I had to tweak the colors a tad from the black and white edit because I adjusted them to where I wanted to show the features of the flowers I wanted to in the black and white.

I love the colors of the flower and the structure of the petals in the monochrome.

#1 - because the structures of the petals are more prominent in monochrome.
