Smoothies ...Strawberry Banana Oatmeal Smoothie

by Russell Smith January. 22, 2019 418 views

Sunday I went to the grocery store hungry (I know a seriously bad idea) . I wanted to pick up some fruit for smoothies so I did. I grabbed a few different kinds of fruit. My daughter picked up some almond milk to try in her cereal so I decided to try that in the smoothies.

Ingredients:

  • 4-6 Large Ripe Strawberries (more if they are smaller)
  • 1-2 Bananas
  • 1/2 cup of Oatmeal
  • 1 cup of Milk or Almond Milk
  • 2 Teaspoons of Sugar or sweetener of your choice .
  • 1/4 cup of Yogurt (optional)
  • 6-8 ice-cubes (if you freeze the strawberries you can skip this)

Cut the fruit , add the rest of the ingredients to a blender cover and blend for a minute or two ; Until the mixture is smooth . Pour in a Glass and enjoy .

This image I like the angle but I do not like the way the smoothies look in the image if I am to be completely honest .

This was a semi healthy breakfast or snack . I think I will end up turning this into a short series of smoothies as if there is not enough smoothie recipes on the Internet .

This looks great! I've only tried oatmeal in a smoothie once before, and it stayed a little tough for my liking (my blender is also not the best). Did you just add the oats dry?

I did add them dry. I also pulsed the blender several times to start breaking them down before I added anything else. Then after the fruit and milk was added  I blended for another 2 or 3 min (as my blender is a cheap one also) and the smoothies also sat for another 5 or so minutes while I was photographing them so they were not a gritty sensation. I have considered toasting them next time . I did consider soaking them but I kept thinking it might turn gummy .

That's a great idea to pulse them first. I will try that next time! Thank you!
