Day 30/365 Orange... and A Tripod Tip.

by Russell Smith January. 30, 2019 358 views

A close up almost macro shot of my headphones for the computer . I did not get any oranges when I went shopping because the quality of them sucked and limes were on the menu for a marinade. I have tons of orange in books but I just did a book. My camera bag interior is orange but it is also a wreck right now so being lazy I skipped cleaning that for the shot. The headphones were todays winner winner chicken dinner.

Now it is not a bright day and being mid day the sun is rather high in the sky so I do not have the benifit of the neighbors house being used as a giant reflector (its a white house) . To give you an idea this is at iso-1600 and 0.4 sec shutter speed so I used a tripod. In the shot below I used the same tripod so why the blur?

Whenever I am on a tripod I use a two second delay in the shot right above this I did not use the 2 second delay . To be completely honest I am teribad at remembering to change my shutter function. Two second delay for tripod and either high or low speed burst mode when I am not on the tripod. So it is not uncommon for me to take the camera out to get a shot press the shutter to hear 2 seconds of beeping (an eternity when shooting a bird) or like today I was photographing lunch (a new to me recipe) and had the camera in a burst mode hense the blury photo. So if your photos are not quite as clear as you want them on the tripod try the two second delay feature in the drive mode.

Oh before I forget if you remember back a couple of days to Monday and the macro shot of the pasta you will remember I had some left over pasta dough. Well before it went bad in the fridge I decided to look and see what I had . Anchovies, Capers , Red Pepper Flakes, Garlic, and Parsley . So I made some Spaghetti Aglio e Olio and Anchovies.

This is why I had the camera in burst mode . I find that if my shutter speed is not where I want it then I will do a burst of 4 or 5 images and usually the 2nd or 3rd one will be acceptably sharp for what I want to do with it .

The pasta looks delicious. The color is so much brighter and whiter than store bought...is it because of the flour you use or.....?

Combo of flour (semolina has more of a golden hue), and I only used a 3 eggs and the color of the yokes were a bit pale in color. I will use a mix of 00 and semolina most of the time and I will also use 3 eggs plus 2 to 3 yokes but I was trying a different recipe because the origional use was for a different pasta shape and well I was/am out of semolina .

Life is way to short to not have fun and laugh even if it is at yourself . I know I laugh at myself quite regularly .

Nice, a remote release can help also and if you have an electronic shutter it can help to get the vibration of the mirror out

That is very true while I do not have an electronic shutter on my current camera body I will use a mirror lock up when I am doing landscape. I do have a remote release but it is one that is plugged in and I discovered it got too much attention from the cats when I had it on the camera lol so now it lives in my camera bag until I go out for a landscape shoot or I get it out and use it if the camera is set up where it is hard for me to get the shutter button pressed .
