Day 83/365 Rambling......

Todays prompt is kites. 14 April of 2019 is when the kite festival will be in Aiken, SC my former home. June to September of any year there will be kites on the beaches around here. Right now there is no kites flying . The event in Aiken was right across the street from where I use to live so I would walk over and enjoy the festival . It is your typical small town event but none the less it is fun.

I am drawing a blank on what to shoot for this days post. I know I have a few things that I am going to photograph later in the week. Macrons, Coconut Cake are two that come to my mind. Two things I am beyond nervous about making. I know I am well not that great at sweets and really do not need to eat them but I also have a stubborn streak so I will make and fail until I get them right on a consistent basis. Thinking about today well we have to go pick up our groceries ( only way to not do a self checkout and I hate those). I have to run to the town over from me to go to a store that sells 00 Flour, and see if I can locate Rose Water ( who knew it would be so hard to find). I also have a few things to pick up for this evenings adventure more to come on that adventure. It will be a Roping good time and a first for my wife and daughter. So that will be two posts for tomorrow. I also have to dig in the closet to find where some things are hidden . That maybe a tomorrow thing. I am sure there will be at least one other squirrel (reference from the movie Up that my daughter started and has continued through today)that I will find to distract me and interest me so there is that. I also want to run to Lowes( May not be the cheapest but the closest ones customer service has won me over for now) in the next few days to see what I can find for some surfaces/background for food and product photos. I have no shortage of things to keep me entertained and I also have a few artistic images that I need to get out of my head.

........Boredom that is something I will never admit to even now that I am 40+ years old. I made that mistake one time and spent the afternoon picking up pinecones out of the front and back yard. Oh the front and back yard were a few acres in between them. That was the one and only time I was ever bored lol. That I would ever admit to. Funny thing is my daughter and her friends were only bored one time. I had them help me clean the house. They were never bored after that. I guess they learned the same lesson as me at the same speed I learned it.

..........Rambling I am hoping in my rambling that I can get inspired by something. I guess you could say I am having a conversation with myself lol. Would that be a meeting of the minds after all I am a Gemini . I know Cats might work... Nope that is a big fat no go. I know there is something around here. Excelsior... Flower and Macro.

In a situation like this where I am not using a tripod I will put the camera in High Speed Burst and take 3-6 images. At least one of the series will be sharp . Usually image 2 or 3 is the best and it works 95% of the time . I should have used a bit smaller of an aperture but I was at 1/80th a sec and iso 3200 I did not want to push the iso any higher or the shutter any lower and I was way to lazy to pull out the tripod .

Boredom?  I used a different trick with my kids.  When the last one moved out, we told them all that the house is now "clothing optional".  None of them has asked to move back in.  grinning
