Day 84/365 Music

by Russell Smith March. 24, 2019 357 views

I love music all kinds of music from Classical to Heavy Metal to a variety of Country to Techno. This is not the way I am going even though there is a number of items related to music in the house.

When I am in the kitchen there is a symphony of music that gives me clues. The tempo of the bacon frying or the bubbling of the water. If you listen to the sounds you will hear tempo changes or pitch changes as the items keep cooking. There is the percussion section. The knife chopping the vegetables or fruits.

This is the direction that I am going.

The above photos are for BEEF BOURGUIGNON which is going to be dinner tonight. I cook it in the crock pot so I do not have to tend to it. This will be one of the last times that I will make this for the cool season. It is too rich and hot for summer days here in the south.

Then there is the sharp sounds of a pan being dropped to bang the air bubbles out of the dish.

This is a first for me and my daughter. We are making Macarons . With a Vanilla Rose Filling. Hopefully the dish will turn out edible if not maybe we will sort out what went wrong. Stay tuned for that post . Success or Fail I will post take one of this dish.
Next time someone is in the kitchen stop and listen to the sounds does it remind you of music being played ?

The music of the food being transformed and the smells that start to perfume the whole house are some of my favorite memories, growing up in my Mom's kitchen and in mine, ever since. Thanks for sparking those sweet realizations & memories!

I find for me smells or sounds can be a powerful reminder of other times. There are times I remember the food being prepared for a party or being run out of the kitchen with a broom but as far as what went on at the event/party I could not tell you .

Same here! Thanks!

My Mom would chase me out too, but she used a fly swatter.......(the old metal screen type).....

These days she would probably be put in jail and I would have become a ward of the "justice system".....sigh....
