Day 111/365 Where the Sidewalk Ends

by Russell Smith April. 20, 2019 212 views

This is one of my favorite poems but then again I have many favorite poems. Every-time I get to the end of the sidewalk and start on the crosswalk I think of this poem. No clue why but it is what it is.

Also using this shot for my cell phone project the subject was Filthy and well drain lines are not clean hehe.

I do not have a sidewalk within a 1/4 mile of my house and this spot is another 3/4 mile past that so you could say I followed the Dr.s Orders and walked. I do have one more sidewalk photo but it needs developed and I hope it turns out. This is the first spot (Charleston area) that I have seen this type man hole cover . It is both cool and sad at the same time but that is a rant for another day. When I grabbed a shot with the K1000 (film camera) a young kid said look mom that man is crazy he is taking a picture of the sidewalk. I just looked up and smiled giving him a thumbs up that is when he realized the window was down and turned redder than the stop light his moms car was at. I have 6 more frames and a few clamps to purchase then I will develop the roll (for better or worse).
We got really lucky with the storms yesterday. There was a tornado/waterspout (went over Lake Moultrie) about 10 miles from the house to the east and a separate one 10 miles to the west of us. The winds before the storm line got here were a bit off the chain and when the storm arrived it went still for about 2 min. Talk about an eerie feeling .

I sat outside watching the clouds for an hour or so before the line got here . The textures and shades of grey were mesmerizing to me but I love watching storms and clouds even though they probably should scare me due to my experiences with lightening when I was 11 or 12 .

Ok buddy you can't, "CAN"t"  post this comment "should scare me due to my experiences with lightening when I was 11 or 12 " without going deeper into it. We don't like teasers 😆

We've got a note painted on the curb near every sewer opening:  "Flows to Bay" which they do.  Our sewers dump directly into San Francisco bay, so anything thrown down them will end up there.  I think it has helped a bit out here.
