I revisited the folders from July and I came back across this one. I do have a post with a similar image in it . This one is a few frames further in the sequence that I took. I tried to give it a closer to true or closer to what I saw edit. While it is close unfortunately my cameras sensor lacks the range of the human eye so this is as close to the feel as I could get. Think the camera left side of the bird being a bit more in the shadows. It honestly was a split of light and dark but not black. While the edit is a bit brighter on that side it is close as far as what I could see for feathers .
I have been lazy the last few weeks. Like I still have one or two more posts from the Balloon festival and a couple of posts sitting on my camera's SD card type lazy. Regarding the Balloon festival I honestly think that it is me prolonging that trip. If I am to be realistic it was my first adventure with my mom in 30 years and well there is a 99.999% chance that it was my last. So I think in a way I am trying to hold onto that experience and make it last longer(because once I am done with the photos that means it is done and over except the memories). Do I know how long she has left...Nope and I refuse to mourn her before it is time after all she is still doing adventures and new things around the area she lives. Which is awesome because she is not letting the inevitable slow her down but she is prepared for it. Honestly she unknowingly is teaching me more about courage and enjoying life than I have learned the previous 20 or 30 years (not including childhood).
Now onto the second 1/2 of lazy. One part of that is not making time to go shoot especially during the weekdays and well weekends have been chaotic with short trips and shopping. Another part is well while I see those folks north and west have cool/cold weather it is HOT well not July or August Hot but Hot. Mid 80s to low 90s and well 70% humidity hot and I am pouting a bit because I want to wear a long sleeve shirt and walk in the woods without having to drink 2 liters of water every 15 min to prevent heat stroke lol. I guess you could call them the ongoing lack of Fall Blues...
Oh and the fact that I had had 2 SD cards die in 30 min does not help things. Fortunately I am a hoarder and have one more good card (v30 speed) and two slow cards. So going to talk to Jack Skellington tonight and have him put a word in with the big man up north and see if I can get him to drop off a couple of cards in a bit over a month and a half(ish) .
Anywho enough of that ramble and onto the next ramble/rant......2020 outside of wanting to spend most of 2020 in a secluded low population place with limited internet access which unless I win the Lotto Jackpot is unlikely to happen. Also excluding the fact that after March/April we are planning on moving North and West (providing an position opens up in an area that we like or looks interesting). So that will throw a wrinkle into whatever project that I settle on and I am planning on factoring that into things also.
I have been kicking a few project ideas around. One is very much an Instagram project that well I haven't fleshed out just yet but It will be about garbage... Yes trash. Without going on a rant about it I am still trying to in my mind balance the rant and action.
I also want enter several photos into a few competitions centered around Wildlife and the thing that I will have to overcome there is the fear of success or the chance at success. I also want to find or work on a small or several smaller conservation type stories or shoots. I just haven't figured out what or where yet. Hence the Owl shot and well over the winter and early spring I plan on stalking the Owls a bit more. I know I have better shots available if I put in the effort.
Also make time to work on improving my food shots and kicking a few family members in the caboose to get them to send me the recipes that they want.
For me one of the first steps of any project is putting it in writing so I have something to hold myself to. So I am certain that you will hear more about these projects or ideas as I continue to flesh them out.
