5 more days is all that is left in 2019....Crazy to think how fast the last 10 months flew by the first two months of the year seemed to drag on forever ....
The Holiday flurry has passed by and it is time to relax for a little bit. Minus the daily and weekly chores.
I have at least one more outing for photography left in 2019. Of course for me it will be a trip to the local park so the yearly favorite wrap up will be closer to the end of the year. It will be a challenge to narrow it down to 10-12ish images.
Christmas was great no better than great for us. Time with the family which is the best part of the season for me. We never know who has how long left on this earth so enjoy the time with them to the best of your ability. I am afraid this will be the final Christmas that we spend with my wifes grandmother. Her health is failing fast and well my mom is still fighting on against her battle with Cancer and enjoying life as much as she can. Honestly these two women are some of my biggest heroes. One has taught me about perseverance and the other teaches me about how important it is to enjoy life even if it deals you rotten lemons.
It was an epic year for presents. I loved all of the gifts that I received. There has been one thing on my to do list for the last 20 years. That was to make it to Alaska. You see when I came to SC in 2000 I planned on spending the fall/winter here so I could save some funds up and make my way to Alaska. 6 months is the length of time I planned on being here in this state. Well fate had other ideas and Alaska was put on a back burner for dreams. My wifes hard work paid off she won a trip well a 7 day cruise to Alaska through work and she revealed this to me on Christmas day. Excited about the cruise in June is an understatement and well I am more than proud of her performance at work.
This was part of the gift that she gave me trying to give me a set of clues as to where we were taking a trip.
My standmixer was also replaced with a larger heavier duty model. It was needed as my old was 19 years old and on its last leg. My daughter got me a pour over chemex setup. That will be featured in at least on post soon. My photo gear related gifts were a gimble head for the tripod, a fast sd card (faster than my current camera is capable but planning ahead), A SD card holder, and the Sigma dock. When I got my 150-600 the dock was not part of the "kit" but when the cost was over 50% off I cannot complain. The dock allowed me to easilly upgrade to the current firmware and also adjust the speed of the autofocus. A few other things that it has the potential to do like adjust the focus if necessary.
Now to make time to catch up on the posts that I have missed due to lifes whirlwind.
