2020 Intro.....

by Russell Smith January. 01, 2020 255 views

What mysteries does 2020 hold??? I guess time will tell. Some things I want to do this year or accomplish this year. Well I know Alaska is on tap for this year. Hopefully a change of location (state wise) is in the cards. Out west ... Something new and different than the southeastern states.

Prints 12 8x10 shots that is one goal same or similar as last year but I managed to fall short even though I have several in a folder to print.

Of course photography. Maybe work on landscapes or in the case of where I live right now swampscapes. I know there are images out there to be made in this front. Food photography is another genera that I want to improve or shoot more of but I think that will be a late spring to summer type project. Nature or Wildlife is one area I plan on focusing fairly hard on. I have a project in mind for the Swamp Warbler (Prothonotary warbler) I just need to sit down and flesh it out some more although I have a few months before they show up in our area. They are in South America at the moment enjoying the warmth down there.

B and H Camera is doing a version of the #365 challenge I may participate in that on the side or use that as a guide to the challenge unsure what or how I think or feel about that yet.

Outside of the blog I plan on growing instagram a bit now if nothing else to show the beauty of shooting local and at local parks or forests. Who knows what other mysteries or messes that I will get myself into this year.

Yellow Rumped Warbler . This is a male I think but either way it is a perfect example of why they have the name.

Cheers to the new year and new decade. I hope this year brings much fortune and joy to you and yalls families :)

Lovely shot! Looks like 2020 may be the year of the bird. smile I saw a yellow-rumped warbler this morning too, but a female. Not a bird I get to see too often around here.

They love Myrtle trees or trees that are fairly thick with cover and small berries. They eat insects but will also eat smaller berries. One thing I have learned about them is if you figure out the direction they are feeding and can get ahead of the flock . Wait until they get to where you are they will almost ignore you so by getting closer ahead of them you will have closer shots.

Ah! Good to know, thank you. I'm not sure I'd recognize a myrtle tree offhand, I will have to look it up. And I didn't realize they traveled in flocks either. I've only seen them one at a time.
