Bagels Birds and Bit More

by Russell Smith August. 14, 2020 194 views

The last batch of bagels I made prior to this was delish problem is that well they were ugly and ugly is being polite. So I was rather happy with the result of these guys.

This young Red Tail Hawk has been a visitor in my neighbors yard for the last several days unfortunately for me this is the best shot that I have gotten so far. He/She likes to hang out where you can see him but not photograph it.

These two have been my latest adventures in the kitchen. The Mustard I have done before at least with 100% yellow mustard. I will know in about 5 days how it tastes. It takes about a week after it is ground up to a smoother consistancy for the flavor to mature. The Ketchup is an experiment and while not 100% home made seeing as I did not make the tomato paste it is mostly home made and only have 4 ingredients in it 5 if you include water.

I have had issues trying to get on PB when I have the time to browse and catch up :/ or catch up when I have a bit of time I am not puttering around the house or yard.

If you are a Tn. Resident the Tn. State Fair is doing digital entries this year so I went ahead and entered my shot. What do I have to loose....Nada.

Is the one I chose to enter :) .

I think the first use for the mustard will be on pretzels. I finally have some food grade lye to make those with. Gives it the color and flavor I have tried to make them without it and well it is good but not quite right.

I was more than a safe distance from the Copperhead. The lens I was using on this day  will not focus much closer than about 3 meter or so. I love baking and the Mustard I wont know for several more days. After it is ground it takes about a week for the flavors to mature so to speak.

Cool, well you inspired me. Today, I made a Thai flavoured rice noodles.

Im an amateur at cooking, but when I see people making sauces from scratch I'm like, okay, I can try a little harder.

The Bagels look delicious, I'm gluten free, so its a good thing, I can't reach them through my screen.

You need to make a home-made peanut butter to go with them!!! Yum.

Thank you :) My daughter is not either but I am hoping she will at least try this and see if there is an adjustment that can be made so she likes it more.

I know we have 3 Kites (in the raptor family) that I cannot get a shot of to save my life. I know with raptors it is Miss or rarely Hit. Their eye sight is too good lol.
