Donut, Insta Pot and an Update...

Since working at a donut shop for a while about 17 years ago I have not been able to make them at home worth a flip. 2 weekends ago I decided to give it another whirl and see if I would succeed or fail. Well the standard donuts were successful. The few I made that were filled were successful as far as the fry the filling on the other hand was less than successful. A hot well room temp mess lol. My filling was too thin for this use and made a glourious mess.

Now for the Insta or is it Instant Pot. The bullseye store had a nice sale on a 6qt insta pot so I purchased one. I honestly have been in the skeptical camp. After using it several times I wondered why I was skeptical.

A beef roast that I had plans on turning into a beef dip sandwhich was the first victim of the pot.

Homemade Bread, Fries and Ketchup(lacto fermented). I would say this was successful. The Ketchup was a side experiment

to well try because I had the space to do it.

Pork Country Style ribs in 9 min on the insta pot and finished on the grill (glaze and color).

Rice pudding. So yeah I have been getting the use out of this guy. While it is not a replacement for my kitchen it is a nice tool to have in said kitchen.

Tofu homemade is another adventure that I have been partaking in. So far 2 of 3 attempts were successful.

This guy and another juvenile Coopers hawk have been taunting me. Whenever I have no camera in hand they are in the yard or in plain view. If I have or get the camera they hide. Also there is a few humming birds that I have been stalking to no avail.

I am hoping the temps are correct for the end of the week or next week. It will be in the 70s so lower temps and I might be able to get out into nature for a while.

I am know as the gadget junkie and buy anything and everything. Some are used on a regular basis, such as the air fryer or the Sous Vide, wand, but others end up in the extra room downstairs, soon to be forgotten. Instapot is one of those gadgets that I have not been totally sold on, yet. I see it as a close relative of the pressure cooker ( which ended up downstairs) therefor not sure if it's something for me. Although, I must add that every food item you have posted on this entry looks very good and you are a very talented baker/cook so I am wondering what is the appeal?
Your cooper reminds me of the orioles that have just recently started flying around my feeder. I've been wanting to capture them forever, but we don't seem to be in sync smile

For me outside of the pressure cooker function the main attraction was the yogurt function at first. I do like the pressure cooker function in place of slow cooker and I like the consistency of using this machine for making rice. Honestly I am not a gadget person for the most part when it comes to the kitchen and if they are single use then I limit the amount of them living in the kitchen. It is nice to cut down cook time on things like ribs in 10 min and they are cooked and it opens up a few new techniques for me without having to drag out the old pressure cooker.
I have been stalking a Rufus Hummingbird (mainly for proof it is in the area) and another hummer that I think I know what it is but I want proof as it would be very very rare for this area.

Thanks for explanation, it does clarify it for me.

Looking forward to seeing your pictures of the Rufus Hummingbird. I looked them up, to me they look like the hummingbirds that are around here but then again I am not good at distinguishing birds.
