21 Jan Pay for a Hamburger on Tues for One Today....

Ok Bread and black and white is going to be a challenge. I did tone this one a bit although I need to sit my self down and figure out a platinum/palladium color tone. It is one of my top 3 black and whites the other two are silver gelatin and a selenium. The selenium is one I have not seen anywhere near a close translation from the analog process to digital so once I get the platinum down I may fiddle with selenium one.

Do I think this image works in B&W.....NOPE. It is graphic enough the light is wrong and most important it is missing the color of the rolls. Does this mean I am done with bread and B&W? Nope. I know there has to be a way to do it and have the results look good so look for more "failures" or learning shoots in the future. To me it just means I have not screwed up enough to get it right....

Anywho the bread is a a Hokkaido Milk Burger Bun. The recipe comes from youtube . I either make a full sized burger bun or a smaller version for sliders which is what was on the menu last night. I did mention the light was well garbage and that is in part due to the extra length of rise times due to winter temps in the house and me being lazy enough to not drag out the flash and modifier.

I do have to make an image today 1/22 if I post it today or tomorrow who knows. Depends on what I find to shoot and or energy level vs pain level.

You said it a while back food photography and black and white/monochrome don't really sit well together.

Two Questions: Looking at your exif....why such a high ISO and such a low shutter speed? Did you use a tripod?

Hand held shot I was too lazy to break it out I was confident that at the shutter speed and focal length was going to be sufficient without the tripod given the IS in the body. I have decided to play with food and monochrome until either I run out of ideas that might work or I get it right.
