30 March Dandelion Jelly....

While food does not usually work well for black and white photography. Translucent items though I have discovered that if I take a shot in black and white or monotone photo setting it will let me look at the way the light comes through the item without the distraction of color. This lets me know if an exposure will work. In this case it worked somewhat but I wanted more so I did a manual bracket maybe 1 stop under to 2 2/3 over 3 shots.

This allowed me to merge the shots to get a good color on the jelly but also a decent color on the flowers. I made 4 1/2 of these little jars for this go around. This is a quick jelly the longest part was snipping the yellow part off the flowers so I could make the tea.

I like the composition and color of #2 very much, but I also like the black and white because of the translucent glass.  Interesting technique of shooting black and white to see how the light flows. Might had to try to just see if I can "see".

This time I prefer the coloured one, although #1 is also very good.
