23 April Trash Panda 2.0 ....

by Russell Smith April. 23, 2021 197 views

Yesterday I had a shot in mind and a subject I was destin to shoot. Yeah I pick up the camera and it flew away. I played hide and seek with a Goldfinch for several hours and by the time I gave up I also gave up for the day for shooting. Today after doing to projects that had long been on the back burner I decided to take a late walk.

On the way home Rocky the Racoon was coming down the tree and it did not expect to see me so it went up the tree again. Yahtzee.... I grab the camera and get a safety shot or one in the can. Then I could work on something better.

He does not exist if I do not look is the impression I got from this shot.

Ok the hooman is still there.

Hmmm. Coat looks good. Not sure if the nose is a fear response or signs of a more serious illness. At least it seemed less lost in space this encounter.

Yoga.

Will keep an eye on it as I have seen it for the last few days. The limp seems to be better today so maybe that was just a sprained muscle.

:) I can do a color post. For the b and w part of the project I use the jpg out of the Olympus but I also shoot raw so that is an easy fix.

Kool!
I love the tight foci and bokeh in these!
The B&W treatment accentuates the textural contrasts in these!
Nice  work!

Great shots and glad you are feeling better. Raccoons are so cute, but after raising chickens and having to deal with these pests, my view of them has soured.

I have a hate love relationship with them . I love watching them away from urban settings. Around the house knowing a few diseases that they have and the fact of having to deal with them as pests I hate seeing them in urban settings. Tree Rats aka squirrels are another one that I despise.

Raccoons are, next to squirrels, the most adaptable urban mammals. I grew up in Hot Springs, with my neighbors across the street, hunting and trapping raccoons, and, as a teenager, helping to train them at the I. Q. Zoo (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marian_Breland_Bailey). Our Assistant Scout Master was the lead trainer at Animal Behavior Enterprises. Even did "secret" work for the "gumint". Ah, the good old days!

Awesome. I would agree. Throwing in Possums, armadillos and Coyotes. As long as they maintain a fear of humans even if the circle of fear is closer I am fine with them.

LOVED these series. Perfect captures and what a cutie even though I would probably be skirmish around him/her. #2 and # 3 are absolutely perfect captures in my mind.
