Rocky .....

These are the color version of the encounter I had with the Raccoon aka Trash Panda . I use OnOne Raw for post processing and sometimes it can be a bit of a pain to get the white balance correct. #2 and #5 are examples of this. #2 has a bit of a magenta cast to the borders of the fur that is not related to Chromatic Apparition and #2 has a bit of a greenish cast to it that is a pain to get it corrected. These cases black and white allows me to be lazier with the color balance hehe.

I have two camera bodies that I use and I use both of them for wildlife. Being in an semi urban location I tend to use the Olympus with the 75-300 v2 lens. This is about a 150-600mm field of view. It also gives me a light lens and body combo that is small and easy to toss in the backpack. My other lens is a 14-150mm the weather sealed version of it. I love that lens for general purpose shooting. It has a nice close focus distance. One drawback with the Olympus EM-5 Mark II is that well it is less than ideal for birds in flight because the AF system is not really up to the task at least here in the thick cover of the Mid-South or Deeper South.

My other body is a Canon 77D and the 150-600 Sigma and I love that lens. It is large and does weight a fair amount for someone who has back issues like me. Now when I use that lens it is on the tripod 99% of the time and as odd as it sounds the few pounds of extra weight from the tripod helps me out in the long run. I will not use this body/lens combo if I am scouting a new location or in my neighborhood. The auto focus in this camera is marginally better than the Oly and with it being a crop sensor canon body I do get a bit tighter of a field of view of a 240-960 mm equivalent if it was a full frame body. It does not handle noise as well as the Olympus mainly because the noise pattern on the Olympus is more pleasing to me and closer to grain from film days. Canons noise I despise and I always have.

This post will lead into more thoughts on bodies and or lenses from me one day when I can put my thoughts together in a coherent manner. I think I have 2 posts living in the to be posted list that I have edited dozens of times and it does not work for me. So I will try again in the future.

With the rain today and a few other things to do I might not find the time or idea to shoot something for today.

The purple or green halo or fringing that happens on high contrast areas. I will dig around one day this week I know I have plenty of examples with my old 75-300 canon lens. It was great for that.

He has the sweetest face. If he didn't have such sharps teeth and claws, I would keep him as a pet. Really nice captures of this little guy.

That is true. I did have a friend in Fla that had one as a pet and also 2 skunks (desented) those were fun when he brought them to the shop people not realizing they were pets and seeing them created some good laughs
