Yesterday we had a break from grey skies and rain, and it was lovely to have a tramp in the hills with my camera. Looking down the valley to the sea. Thorn tree. The ground is worn where sheep have sheltered from the harsh weather. This tree stands at the side of an ancient road know as a Drover's Track, used by the farmers to take their sheep (and geese) for hundreds of miles to the big city markets. There is an old cottage near here called Ty Pich ( Pitch House) where the animals had tar put on their feet to protect them on the long journey. In the note above, about the Drovers Track I should have mentioned that these days the sheep (and geese) are transported in trucks, not by foot. Just in case anyone thought we were REALLY backward here!
