A sunny day

Yesterday we had a break from grey skies and rain, and it was lovely to have a tramp in the hills with my camera.

Looking down the valley to the sea.

Thorn tree. The ground is worn where sheep have sheltered from the harsh weather.

This tree stands at the side of an ancient road know as a Drover's Track, used by the farmers to take their sheep (and geese) for hundreds of miles to the big city markets. There is an old cottage near here called Ty Pich ( Pitch House) where the animals had tar put on their feet to protect them on the long journey.

In the note above, about the Drovers Track I should have mentioned that these days the sheep (and geese) are transported in trucks, not by foot. Just in case anyone thought we were REALLY backward here!

What a great tree. Looks like you needed a flash in No. 3. You're lucky you can just go tramping through the hills like in the Sound of Music. The hills are alive....

wow set this is! Love 1st! the depth is awesome! Love the composition, and love the natural layers by both - the hills and the alternate shadows and light areas! i take it as favourites!
