Today I traveled to Usa River to talk with my language partner. On the way back to my house, I decided today was going to be the day that I documented the daily struggle that is the daladala. Daladalas are minibuses that transport people from the suburbs to the city and vice versa. Sometimes, you get lucky and get a fairly empty daladala, like I did for the first part of my trip. While other times, you’re lucky to have a seat or not be squished between two very large people. When they get full, which is most of the time, they can have up to close to 30 people in a car that normally would seat about half that in the US. But daladalas are convenient in that there is almost always one available whenever you’re on the side of a road and they are very inexpensive.
