The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze at Van Cortland Manor is a Hudson Valley Halloween event that features more than 4,000 individually hand-carved, illuminated pumpkins.

Miniature-sized creepy cobwebs

Pumpkins grow on trees? Who knew?

Taking photos with the flash on shows the carved pumpkin

Taking photos with the flash off shows the resulting lit image (we think this was Merlin).

Can you guess what this is?

If you said scary prehistoric bird…you are correct.

Roopa is flanked by the ghostly spirits of Jyoti and Suraj…although, apparently ghosts also enjoy hot apple cider.

We were told this was a ghostly wedding…but I thought it was clearly the reception time and that they were doing bhangra

Freddy Krueger and the bride

Snowflakes and ornaments

Blue…not so scary

Red…scary! (Wonder if this was a political statement?)

Tracks leading to…

…dinosaurs! A Stegosaurus and an Ankylosaurus, if my numerous childhood memories at the Natural History Museum at the Smithsonian serve correctly.

A Tyrannosaurrus Rex and some Trilobites join the fray

A Mastodon on its way up Blood Mountain

Snakes

That had to take a lot of time and a very steady hand to make

Skeletons

Stonehenge….or Pumpkinhenge?

The mystical powers of the pumpkins proves too much for Suraj to handle.
