Sept. 27: Woodland Road; Watching Watched; Great Blue Heron in Flight; Canada Goose Flapping

Still more grey cloudiness and no-light. But I went to the wildlife refuge and saw neat things anyway. (So there, Sun! I'll have fun without you if you won't come around! ::koff:: Sorry ‘bout that.)

Anyway, the road that leads into it is lovely–deliberately made very narrow (the lane going the other direction has its own meandering course a little ways off) so as to disrupt the forest canopy as little as possible.

As I was driving in, I spotted some deer in the woods. At first I was bummed by the focus not being on the deer…but ultimately I decided I like it this way.

The Heron in flight was a total gift–I’ve been wanting to photograph one flying for ages but never had a chance. The goose seems to be aiming for the same majesty, but mostly just flapping its wings. :D

I so enjoy reading your blog.
The woodland road looks *old* with all the old trees, I like the deer shot too. I laughed at your description of the goose!
