Heaven on earth: Kashmir

I start my blogging journey with this splendid place - Kashmir. "Vaadi" (valley) as they call it, Kashmir resides in the heart of the magnificent Himalayan mountain ranges. Our first destination was Srinagar. Here you can witness different moods of the Dal Lake at different times of the day.

When in Srinagar you cant miss this special accommodation on the house boats. Anchored in the Dal, they showcase fine wooden structures, carpeted floors, antique chandeliers and ornate wooden interiors.

Gulmarg, yet another beautiful destination is defined by its lush green meadows surrounded by snow-clad mountains. The cable car ride here takes you to 'Afarwat', a place atop one of the mountains where you can play in fresh snow. You could even taste some!

Our next pit-stop was Pahalgam. Rattling sound of the river, tall Deodar trees along the valley and far away snow peaks painted golden by the sun rays. You just cant get enough of Pahalgam.

On the journey back to Srinagar, you  travel along roads with tall Poplar(Chinar) trees on either side of the road. Bright sunlight trickling down the foliage gives you good company as you travel along.

Back in Srinagar, a visit to the lake is a must before we say goodbye. The beauty of Kashmir makes one believe that this is what a gift of nature could be.
