I went to an all-women's college which gave me plenty of opportunities to celebrate sisterhood. Even though I was not related to all 800 students by blood, oh boy did I feel like I knew everyone. When you go to a small school and see the same faces everyday, you start to feel a sense of familiarity with the campus. Whether you know them or not. An interesting feeling for sure. This makes it easy to talk to anyone.
While I may not know every single girl on campus inside and out, our traditions celebrated our relationships with the ones we knew well.
One of my favorite school traditions was Ring Night. The senior sister, which was me, secretly picks out a junior sister and gives her a list of crazy demands to do. I made my girl dance in a spongebob costume, sing broadway, and bake me and her helper girls chocolate chip cookies the vegan way. It was a fun time for sure. Now, nothing is free. I, in return, had to give her a gift basket with wine and various treasures.
Last, but not least, all my sisters got notes of sisterhood bit a bit of bling on the back.
And personalized letters.
