The date was Saturday July 10th 2021. I was out for a walk in my favourite place, carrying my pocket Panasonic and looking forward to a peaceful stroll with a camera, in case.
As I walked onto the old rail yard, a faint pillar of smoke was rising towards the far end. Hmmmmmmm.
Intrigued, I had to check out what could be causing it. There are tree trunks, wood piles and cuttings along there, maybe the kids had a bonfire?
I guess they did have a bonfire, perhaps after stealing a motorbike and deciding it was too hot to keep?
Some logs were still burning, the weeds surrounding the fire were smouldering and blackened so, I called it in.
Later, I met a couple of firemen who had been out in the early hours to extinguish the same fire, no mention of Police. Is it still there I wonder?
The area has been getting more littered, more invaded in recent months, lockdown walks? There are drink cans, drug paraphernalia and the general waste left by our modern society. SO sad to see. But this?
I think our planet is in enough trouble without future generations adding to it, or causing it?
OK, it makes for interesting photos but, I stopped taking litter pics some time ago, I had thought it might be a good reminder but, there's too much of it now.
I did go back, the next day, might head down there today, see what has happened to it now.
By the way, this is the same area that those Woodpeckers and Nuthatches nest in :(
