Washington DC

At the beginning of this month the plan was to drive to Washington DC the week of the peak bloom of the cherry blossom trees. It was all booked and on the morning of departure I got a flat tire in my car. There's no spare in the car, so I had to get it towed to the dealer to have it repaired. By the time that was done it was too late to drive to DC. Trip cancelled.

However, I've been there many times before, so I dug out a few of my favorite photos to share.

A park ranger walks by the Washington Monument at sunset. The weird colors came from the funky "Lensbaby" lens I used.

My absolute favorite installation is this Korean War Veterans Memorial. The life size sculptures of the soldiers walking through the bushes is eerily real.

Can anyone identify this place for me? I believe it is a tunnel under one of the museums.

I did manage to get one cherry blossom photo and that was in my backyard!
