Avebury stone circles

Decided to take a walk round the Avebury stones today after yesterday's storm 'Doris'. Somewhat smaller than nearby Stonehenge, there are considerably more stone circles here and the public are allowed closer access. I then noticed what at first glance appeared to be branch debris from the storm but which turned out to be seriously eroded tree roots - it's a wonder the trees stay upright. After a brief stop in The Red Lion, we passed the largest remaining Neolithic mound at Stilbury hill on our return.
