Streptocarpus - an African gem of a flower

by Charles Stirton June. 07, 2007 4289 views

A beautiful African genus called Streptocarpus

The genus Streptocarpus is a very attractive genus of African plants. They usually consist of large straplike leaves and produce a mass of blue, purple, white, violet and even red flowers. This species, photographed in my friend Sandi's garden, has a delicate suffusion of colour.

There are many hybrid selections in the trade and they are relatively easy to grow. Very rewarding.

As arranged by Sandi in her green house.

Best seen enlarged.
