Hidden Bath - Part 7

Today I return to exploring a hidden side of Bath not much frequented by visitors, and as you shall see, not even by residents.

The idea for today's posting came while I was looking at family photos taken of visits to the graves of my wife's Czech ancestors. I was immediately struck by the care lavished by the Czechs in contrast to the abandonment by Bathonians with ancestors in the Lockswood Cemetery in Bath. Perhaps the latter has arisen form a more transient population and the increasingly chosen options in the UK of pagan burials and cremation. Although this cemetery has a neglected air it is full of wild flowers and bird life.

Here are some impressions of my visit there yesterday.

1. The vegetable triumphs over the material.

2. A village of abandoned memories overlooking a city of forgetting.

3. Dust thou art and to dust thou shall be returned.

4. Tempus fugit.

5. A tenuous remembrance almost lost forever.

6. Locksbrook forlorn.

7. Even wealth counts for little over the march of time.

8. Just a glimmer of remembering.

9. A brighter flash of memory.

10. Simple but restored.

11. Even plastic flowers are not ubiquitous here. They stretch the need to return.

12. Here nature has intermingled with the artificial.

13. They came at Christmas.

14. They planted me with real flowers and never returned.

15. Such a solemn beauty.

16. She watches everyday and invests the place with spirit.

Dons no se que dir-te després d'aquest poema visual. El temps passa però la matèria persisteix. Bath és immens també aquest seu cementiri

I like wandering around cemeteries occasionally, and so do you, it seems.

Encourages reflection. #8 is my favourite with its patch of bright colour (and its title).
