Here is the second set of photos from the race. I have one more set and it contains my favorite set of sculptures This was team Veke Versa Boat. It won, not only Ace (complete the course in a certain amount of time without ever leaving your vehicle to move it) but the Engineering award for having made some unique engineering decisions that worked out. The team was made up of kids from a local high school for students with learning disabilities. This is the Carver Cobra II. It's a modified version of there entry from last year which won a Golden Filpper award for being the first statue to capsize in the water. I only got the back of this one, but it's called T-Wrecks. The dinosaurs arms swung back and forth, the plane spun around it, and it dropped eggs along the path as it went. They won the “Best Bribes” award for giving the judges the best bride to give them a win. Here is team Heavy Metal. They were sponsored by the local rock station. There entire sculpture is made from scrap metal. The thing must have weighed a ton because a lot of pushing was involved to get it through the mud. Finally here is team Scrum Roll Racers. They're a girl’s rugby team that plays in the area. They're dressed as sushi (it was easier to tell then this picture lets on). In the front is the pickled ginger and wasabi. The girls in the back are California rolls and the pit crew (you can see one on the left) was sashimi pieces. They tried for Ace this year, but didn't make it because they took too long getting through the mud.
