I noticed the clouds on Friday seemed a bit different - I guess Irene was already showing up. To capture these, I got myself a brand new filter - a neutral density gradient filter. I'm still getting used to it (you'll notice some of the photos are a bit too dark at the top). Basically its a piece of glass that gets darker from the bottom (which is clear) to the top. You use them for scenes like the above where part of your photo is brighter then other parts.

This one I took without the filter - notice the top of the photo starts to get too light.

Here it is with the filter - again, a little practice is needed because I think the top is now a little too dark.
