Arnside is one of those places that you pass through on the way to somewhere else in the Lakes, however it is worth a visit, because it is one of the quieter parts of the Lakes.
The viaduct is a Victorian piece of engineering that we probably couldn't do today. Its a 51 span structure built in 1856 to carry the railway across the River Kent. It became twin track in 1863.
An early start in late October provided some fantastic light.
