Tall ships leaving the Mersey

The tall ships left Liverpool and the Mersey in May 2018. The challenge of the day was to find an interesting point to photograph it from. I had previously photographed it from the centre of town put it was very hard work due to the press of the crowds, so we opted for Crosby beach, which made for a great location to enjoy the event.

Crosby is the home to my favourite public artwork Anthony Gormley's Another place, which for me works because of the way people have adopted it and included it in some many things from the Olympics to the Miners strike.

The men which are arranged along the beach at different heights and affected by the tide are all slightly different due to the weathering.

The flotilla was escorted by HMS Somerset, which was a total contrast to some of the wonderful old sailing ships

This seemed the best way tubes way of viewing the flotillaI saw all day
